Here at Adams Junior High, our Viking Theatre program gives students the chance to explore the world of theatre through acting, movement, voice, and storytelling while building lifelong skills in teamwork and self-expression. 

Here imagination runs wild and confidence is forged. Our students act, create, and collaborate to bring stories to life on stage and behind the scenes. Whether you love the spotlight or prefer working behind the scenes, there’s a place for you in Viking Theatre. We believe theatre should be bold, welcoming, and fun—full of teamwork, creativity, and just a little bit of magic.

What We Do

Who Can Join

The Viking Theatre program consists of the Theatre 1, Theatre 2, Theatre Production Tech, and Theatre Production Acting elective classes. We produce a fall show with the production classes, compete in a One Act Play Festival with the production classes, and produce a spring show/musical that is open to all students at AJH. In addition, we run our own Thespian Club in which students can participate in club activities after school, attend the Junior Thespian Festival, run a talent show with the Special Education Department, earn Thespian points, and become officially inducted into our Junior Thespian Troupe 10083 and the International Thespian Society. ​

Why Theatre Matters

Theatre education matters because it helps students find their voice. Through acting and storytelling, students learn to communicate clearly, work as a team, and step into someone else’s shoes with empathy. Through technical design and production, students learn craftsmanship, develop their artistry, and hone their ingenuity and capabilities in creation. Theatre builds confidence, creativity, and courage—skills that show up in classrooms, friendships, and future careers. It’s not just about putting on a show; it’s about helping young people grow into brave, thoughtful humans who know how to express themselves and support one another.

All students at AJH are welcome to join our program, either as an elective course, through the Thespian Club, or as a performer or technician in the spring show. Students must take at least one year of theatre (Theatre 1) to be able to audition/interview for the advanced production classes. ​

How to Get Involved 

Getting involved in Viking Theatre is easy and fun! Students can join our Thespian Club and attend bi-weekly meetings to play theatre games, learn new skills, and build community. Want more stage time? Sign up for a theatre elective course to dive deeper into acting and production. Not ready to perform? You can still be part of the adventure by coming to our shows and cheering on your friends. However you join, there’s a place for you in Viking Theatre! 🎭​​
